BALLROOM DANCING

ADULT BALLET

This course will offer instruction in classical ballet.  Exercises at the barre will be combined with center floor work.  Increase flexibility and balance while learning the fluid movements of a dancer.

INTRODUCTION TO PIANO-ADULTS/SENIORS

This course will be divided into two groups.  For the beginners rhythm and note reading will be taught.  It is not necessary for the student to be able to read music – this skill will be taught.  The intermediate students will continue to work separately on their skill under the direction of Mrs. Morey.

BASIC DOG OBEDIENCE

Learn how to communicate with your dog using a proven approach to training, which is fun and stimulating.  Your dog will learn basic commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and heel and will become a well-behaved member of your family.  Class is open to dogs 4 months or older and is limited to 10 dogs.  All dogs must be up to date on current vaccinations, friendly with people and other dogs. Class taught by a certified dog trainer.

Please NoteNo dogs the first night, it is a lecture from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

BRIDGE FOR THE BEGINNER

An instructional course stressing the fundamentals of this great game.  Emphasis will be placed on bidding and playing.  The first hour will be devoted to the basic fundamentals and the second hour the students will learn by playing.  (*2)

GOLF – Beginners

Basic golf for the beginner includes proper grip, stance, swing and putting technique.  Instructor will concentrate on developing your swing, use of clubs and rules.  Bring your 7 iron and putter to the first class.  (*1)

SIGN LANGUAGE

This introductory course in Sign Language will give you basic skills in the use of signs and finger spelling as a form of communication.  Enjoy the new experience through communicating in the language of signs.  In educational circles, Sign Language is gaining respectability and a number of colleges and universities are accepting proficiency in signs for credit in a foreign language.

CPR

The AHA Heart Saver AED Course teaches Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, mouth to mouth and barrier device resuscitation, relief of choking, for adults, children and infants.  The course is designed for those who may respond to a family member or community emergency.  The course is approximately 4 hours over a two day span.  There is a skills evaluation at the end of the course.  Upon completion of the course the participants receive a Heartsaver AED Course Completion Card from the AHA.  This course is not a Healthcare Provider CPR course.  This course teaches the new 2005 Standards of CPR and AED use.  Class is limited to 12 people.

NYSCA COACHES CERTIFICATION – FOOTBALL & CHEERLEADING

The National Youth Sports Coaches Association Certification Course will be offered in Football and Cheerleading.  There are many benefits to becoming a certified coach.  This is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge as a youth coach.

INTRODUCTION TO KNITTING

Learn basic knitting techniques and make three projects that will warm you up this winter.  Students will leave class with materials and knowledge to make three projects.  Materials list will be distributed at first class; feel free to bring with you any yarn or tools you may already have.  (*1)

HUMANE SELF DEFENSE

Traditional Okinawan Kempo forms will be used to teach Humane Self-Defense methods from the system of Kyusho Jitsu.  The curriculum is part of Kyusho Jitsu, as taught by Dillman Karate International.  Practical reliable techniques are taught that do not require a black belt to perform.  Kyusho Jitsu applies principles and techniques capable of halting violence with little effort and minimal risk of injury.  Comfortable loose clothing should be worn.  (*1)
