| Steve Bonanni Councilman Ward 2 (609) 266-7600 ext. 323 sbonanni@brigantinebeachnj.com
To Steve Bonanni the civic concept of giving back to the community is something he is very familiar with. That’s because he has been serving citizens in various public service capacities for some 30 years. Steve’s resume of public service includes a professional career as a police officer and volunteer work as a basketball, baseball and football coach and a mentor for Brigantine youngsters, and membership on the Brigantine Board of Education. For the past four years, he has dedicated himself to serving the residents of Brigantine’s 2nd Ward as their representative on City Council. Because he felt it was a way he could help people, Steve became a patrolman on the Atlantic City police force in 1980. When he and his wife, Jeanine, moved to Brigantine two years later, he quickly immersed himself in community activities, most notably those programs geared to the city’s youths. Actively involved in the Brigantine Baseball Association since 1990, Steve has served both as a coach and a member of the association’s board of directors. Currently, he is the head coach of the Brigantine Babe Ruth A Team. Steve also has coached the Brigantine Rams Football Team and has served as the team’s president. Because of his commitment to provide Brigantine youngsters with a solid academic foundation, he served for three years as a member of the Brigantine Board of Education. He also served for a similar amount of time as Brigantine’s representative to the Atlantic City School Board. Selected to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Rich Casamento in 2007, he was elected to a four-year term a year later. Steve is most proud of the fact that he has worked closely with his fellow members of City Council and the city administration to preserve the tax dollars of our hard-working residents while at the same time ensuring that residents receive the essential city services they need and deserve. “I consider it a privilege and an honor to work on behalf of our excellent community and our concerned citizens, “he said. “In my estimation there is no finer community in the entire state of New Jersey.” Steve retired from his police work last year with the rank of sergeant.
