Senior Citizen Coordinator
Tom Shanley operates the Ernie Settani Senior Center under the direction
of Jim Mogan, Director of Community Education & Recreation. The center
is available afternoons and evenings to local organizations to hold regular
meetings or social functions. Please contact the Recreation office to
make a reservation (609) 266-3323.
Atlantic County is pleased
to offer the Senior Center to Brigantine senior citizens age 60 and over.
Each day, the center offers activities, opportunities to socialize and
a nutritious meal. We welcome you to the center and hope that you enjoy
what it offers. Here is some basic information.
Sign-in/Reservations
Reservations should be made at least two days in advance to insure that
there will be adequate food available. Please call 266-7491 and ask for
Beverly.
Donations
There is NO charge for the Senior Center/Nutrition Program. A $1
donation is asked for each meal to enhance the program.
Activities
Activities may include trips, intergenerational programs, bingo, crafts,
exercise and computers. Depending on the activity, there may be a nominal
fee.
Transportation
With only 24 hours notice, Brigantine volunteers (some of which are seniors
themselves) will provide transportation for errands within Brigantine,
such as shopping, a trip to the hairdresser or medical appointments. Simply
call (609) 266-7585 to make arrangements.
Transportation is also
available from the County of Atlantic. For the county service, call (609)
645-5910.
Volunteers
Without assistance from volunteers, this program would not be possible.
Volunteers assist the program by setting up coffee, service lunch, cleaning
up, running activities, working the desk and signing participants in.
