April Sue Schilling                                                                                           Councilwoman-at-Large
(609) 266-7600 ext. 321

Three generations of her family have gone through the K-8 Brigantine school system, a fact that makes Sue Schilling glow with pride. That’s because of her firm belief that strong schools build strong communities, and she’s committed to making Brigantine the kind of community where you children will want to raise their children. She sees a clear connection between the commitment to our children and our senior citizens, and works hard to address specific needs of both.

Appointed to the Council to fill a vacancy in 1992, Schilling became the first female to be sworn into office. Since then, she’s made her mark helping to create the Cultural Arts Commission to bring cultural activities to the island. Not only is she a member of the Cultural Arts Commission, she is a member of the Board of School Estimates. She’s served in many capacities as an Elder at the Community Presbyterian Church, was a foundling leader of the Crossroads Youth Group, and has run junior high school youth dances for over 10 years.

Presently, Schilling works in an administrative capacity for the engineering firms doing construction inspections on the Atlantic City/Brigantine Connector Project. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, roller blading, and trying new recipes. Her daughter Cindy, 22, is also working on the Atlantic City/Brigantine Connector Project as part of the Inspection Survey Crew. Her daughter, Libby, 21, is a student at Temple University.
